Dear Nachtblumen...

Most of us associate the beginning of a new year with a fresh start, clean slate or simply the time that we use as a little ‘’excuse’’ to be hopeful, extra motivated and bring new ideas or long overdue projects to life! In that sense, I am no different. I am not necessarily a fan of resolutions, but I do like to think of this as a symbolic moment in my life cycle where I restart something big. Following this line of thought, it was high time I told you who is behind the Nachtblumen project, what is the essence of it, and what the future holds for Nachtblumen.

In the spirit of new beginnings, I’d like to start by introducing myself. My name is Nadya, I am based in Berlin and I basically live and breathe electronic music. Nachtblumen is the product of my passion and today I would like to tell you a little more about that.

I have been a part of the electronic music scene for about 10 years now. Having grown up in Eastern Europe I consider myself lucky that the journey of my life has actually brought me places. After living in Amsterdam for a few years and gaining experience in the music industry, I moved to Berlin where circumstances allowed me to follow my passion even further and create my own contribution to the scene in the form of a beautiful platform for music promotion, events and various content!

As a dedicated and passionate member of the electronic music community, I have always felt the desire to not just consume and enjoy this world, but also contribute to it in a way. After all, isn’t this what being part of a community or letting yourself become culturally enriched means? The music has always been front and centre for me, therefore, my main focus has always been talking about the artists, records and labels that I find interesting and inspiring through my platform.

Dreams become reality when you stand up and do it. So in 2017 I decided to finally take a leap and put all my ideas in place to create Nachtblumen. No matter how good and well thought through a concept is at first, with time things evolve as people change and learn along the way. The same thing happened with me and Nachti, we grew up. The truth is that even though we did, the core idea of this platform has been and remains the same – a seamless representation of our scene, the music, and people that make it such a beautiful and inspiring never-ending source of energy and love!

Dreams become reality when you stand up and do it.

2020 took us all by surprise. Obviously, it was not easy for anyone in our industry to swallow the tragedy that the pandemic caused. Mainly in the sense of posing an enormous threat on the financial wellbeing and mental health of everyone, who has completely dedicated themselves to this industry and making a living with it. To us, the ravers and fans it was equally detrimental, but a coin always has two sides. For me Nachtblumen has been an independent project from the start and not my main occupation, but the truth is that last year the pandemic actually gave me an opportunity to spend a little more time on it than usual, which led me to writing this post today and start a new chapter.

Next to my passion and interest in electronic music culture, I have always found it equally important to be out there experiencing the local scene and meeting inspiring like-minded people. I am humbled to share that in the past years I have had the pleasure of doing exactly that, and today I am able to actually invite some of these people to be part of my journey either in the form of a podcast contribution, or as you will be seeing more from now on, in-depth editorial features that shed light on various topics related to our industry, projects, opinions and thoughts. I am happy to announce that as of this year, Nachtblumen will expand its horizons beyond the current status quo and will try to go deeper into our scene by starting more conversations, giving you more information, supporting even more members and creators from our community, and most of all providing a platform to people that have talent, work hard and would like to be part of this scene.

My goal is to be able to keep the fire and love for electronic music burning through constantly presenting you with new points of view, new music and new worlds. I intend to do that here in my blog, my socials, and on SoundCloud through Nachtis’ continuous sonic story with contributions from well-known and up and coming artists. In addition to that, my love for art will ensure that my vision about the beautiful metaphor of Nachtblumen keeps blooming before your eyes.

I am looking forward to sharing moments with the members of our society who appreciate music, art, flair and talent. When the working day is done, the night reveals its true beauty waiting to be released. Let us be a rebellious, wild community of all ages pursuing happiness and escaping the usual constraints and difficulties of modern life through culturally enriching ways.

Wir sind die Nachtblumen.

Thank you for the support.

Love,
Nadya
