Nachtblumen Podcast #5 Markov

Podcast number 5 in my series comes from the East! Today I would like to introduce you to MARKOV, a Bulgarian DJ and Producer based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Dimitar Kozhuharov a.k.a Markov developed a strong interest in music from an early age, and around 14 he already started to experiment and create his own music. After years of playing around, discovering and experiencing music, he started to dedicate his time more seriously to his DJ project Markov in 2017. To this day, the main driving force behind Markov’s passion is the need for interesting and different sounds that when combined, evoke strong emotions, just like the high adrenalin emotions during a party that one can experience mainly because of the music. This is also his main goal as a DJ, to create as many of those moments and emotions for the listeners as possible.

Before entering the techno world, Markov was heavily influenced by trance, which can be still noticed in his way of mixing that entails longer breaks, very intense build-ups and peaks. Later on, one of his main inspirations has been Chris Liebing in the peak years of his CLR label and podcasts. Nowadays, some of the artists that inspire and influence Markov are Luke Slater, Speedy J, Norbak, Bjarki and Dold. Despite that, it is hard to put his style in just one category. As a DJ, Markov’s main goal is to always combine different styles of music in order to create very particular moments, which surprise the listener.

Markov’s passion for music, DJing and production has also led him to co-found one of the best underground collectives for electronic music in Bulgaria, Stamina. As part of the collective, Markov organizes and plays at their events featuring artists such as Reeko, Dax J, Stanislav Tolkachev, Perc, Phase Fatale and Ancient Methods.

When it comes to production, he recently released independently his 4 tracker “Quick Response” EP, where he once again delivers intense build ups across a variety of deep, trippy, rhythmic and acid influenced melodies. Later this year, he will be releasing a remix for one of his fellow Stamina co-founders Dimitar Georgiev on the greek label Corpus Black. Stay tuned!

I am pleased to welcome and present you Markov, with a special podcast that he recorded for me at his home in Varna, Bulgaria. Prepare for a trip through different moods and soundscapes. Happy listening!
