Nachtblumen Podcast #26 orsu
Pierre artistically known as orsu is a French DJ coming from the dreamy island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. His journey through sound is as layered and transformative as his music, marked by an evolving relationship with electronic music's mental and emotional dimensions.
With a deep love for music, orsu comes from a background in psytrance and underground tekno - genres that shaped his interest and heavy focus on the dancefloor experience early on. However, a life-altering accident temporarily robbed him of his ability to walk, forcing him to re-evaluate his connection to music. During this challenging period, orsu discovered the mental and introspective power of sound, delving into experimental and hypnotic compositions that stimulate the mind as much as the body.
He quickly fell in love, and decided to pursue an artistic expression in this field. During the pandemic, the young artist spent a lot of time digging, listening to music and learning how to play. Today, he channels his creativity through the Paris-based platform Nebuleuse, which he co-founded three years ago with his friend and artist Andy Pi. The duo launched Nebuleuse to fill a void in the Parisian scene, creating a space for deeper, boundary-pushing electronic music. The platform nowadays entails a genre-fluid podcast series, track premieres and events featuring artists like Harald Uunk, Zara, A Strange Wedding, Faery and a lot of local talent.
Orsu is a conceptual person by nature with a vast imagination, who loves to read and create stories. His approach to music is tightly connected to that, and it always starts with words. He writes down the different chapters of the story he’d like to tell, and the music follows. With a lot of patience and passion, Pierre likes to dive deep into every music project taking his time to build an experience that will captivate the listeners. His sound blurs boundaries, merging experimental textures with hypnotic rhythms. Inspiration can come from many directions - a cool track, the way someone is running a platform or contributing to the scene, or from artists such as Lemna, Kosei Fukuda, Rrose, Polygonia and Gi to name a few.
When it comes to Nebuleuse, orsu and Andy Pi are investing a lot of thought, emotion and hard work to constantly develop and improve the platform further. Most recently a full rebrand has commenced in order to align the visual identity with their musical ambitions and curation. They are currently working on creating a record label, which will soon be launched with an experimental VA compilation. Next year, they plan to host their events in a more permanent location, providing a space where their concept can fully bloom and further enhance their distinctive contribution to Paris's electronic music scene.
Getting to know Pierre was a true pleasure, as he is someone who is very passionate and sincere about his music, and all of the work he does in the scene as a curator and promoter. I resonate with his approach and am happy to support such a modest but ambitious and creative person. As he continues to evolve in the music scene, his contributions are sure to leave a lasting impression. The latest installment of the Nachtblumen Podcast embodies orsu’s thoughtful process. Titled "Evergreen Rhythms" and taking a synesthetic approach to sound, this mix explores deep techno and the hypnotic textures of psychedelic music, through the prism of the color green. The result is a timeless, hypnotic journey—an ‘’evergreen’’ sound to close the year on a high note. Press play and enjoy the music, and if you are in Paris do not hesitate to visit some of the Nebuleuse events in 2025!
